The Met Gala is one of the most highly anticipated events in all of fashion. The red carpet rolls out every year for an exclusive list of who’s who when it comes to pop culture. After being cancelled last year due to corona virus, the Met Gala returns with a bang as this years theme is ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’. With looks inspired with everything from ‘The Matrix’ to the Statue Of Liberty, heres our round up of the most unforgettable looks from fashions biggest event.
Serena Williams
Serena Williams commanded attention in a Gucci bodysuit underneath a floor-length pink feather cape.
Anna Wintour
Vogue Chief, Dame Anna Wintour paid tribute to late designer Oscar de la Renta in a floral motif maxi dress.
Grimes
Grimes ‘slayed’ the red carpet by accessorising her look with a large sword.
Kim Kardashian
Now we love Kim but we do feel this year Kim Kardashian’s Balenciaga look lacked creativity from the celeb who usually serves on the red carpet. It was reported that Kim attended the Met with (ex)husband Kanye West but speculation suggests that the accompanying incognito costume contained Balenciaga designer Demna Gvasalia instead.
Timothée Chalamet
The star donned a white silk suit that can be described as ‘formal sweatpants’. We think he killed it in this look!
Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner STUNNED in her Audrey Hepburn ‘My Fair Lady’ inspired dress by Givenchy. Encrusted with rhinestones Jenner was one of the brightest shining stars on the red carpet.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid donned Prada and looked effortlessly elegant whilst debuting a new hair colour. We’re here for a ginger Gigi.
Iman
Iman wore an absolute show stopper of a gold leaf gown and matching head dress. Underneath Iman wore a gold bustier and flares giving us a truly breath taking moment on the red carpet.
Michaela Coel
Michaela Coel’s first met is one to remember. Presumably a nod to the American flag the actress wore head to toe electric blue sequins. A full Balenciaga moment we’re living for.
Kaia Gerber
Another timeless Oscar de la Renta look had Kaia Gerber in a strapless black gown with black embroidery lining the top of the bodice.
Normani
Normani gave us exactly what we want from the Met Gala, head turning fashion. This bold Valentino gown had us gasping as she took to the stairs.
Tessa Thompson
Gave us the cowgirl moment we didn’t know we needed. The utterly stunning red ruffle dress from Iris Van Herpen is by far one of our favourite looks from this years Met.
Lilli Reinhart
Reinhart’s Christian Siriano gown is something we would of dreamed up as a little girl. The pink mesh dress with floral embellishments is the sort of thing we needed to see on a post pandemic red carpet.
Anok Yai
We couldn’t finish this blog post without our favourite look of the night. Anok Yai lives upto her reputation as the worlds most beautiful woman and was a spectacle at the 2021 Met Gala. Her look was inspired by Joshepine Baker and American born french entertainer who devoted her life to fighting racism. Not online did Anok look breath taking but she embodied the theme perfectly and paid tribute to an American icon. She takes the crown.
